Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer with over 2 years of experience in technical documentation, preferably in the automotive, mechanical, aerospace, or engine manufacturing domains. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engine components, systems, operations or any other mechanical equipment along with excellent writing and documentation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documents such as:
- User manuals
- Maintenance guides
- Fault Detection and Reporting
- Troubleshooting procedures
- Installation manuals
- Engine component descriptions
- User manuals
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and system designs to produce accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, SMEs, and product teams to gather technical information.
- Use tools like Adobe FrameMaker, MS Word, and XML-based authoring tools to develop content.
- Ensure all documents comply with organizational standards and industry regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO).
- Create illustrations or collaborate with design teams for graphical content to support technical documents.
- Manage version control and updates for documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conduct peer reviews and participate in document audits.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a technical writer in a relevant domain.
- Strong knowledge of IC engines, diesel/gasoline engines, engine components, and their functions.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, exploded views, and schematics.
- Proficiency in documentation tools like Adobe FrameMaker, MS Word or similar.
- Good understanding of technical writing standards and structured authoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Exposure to S1000D or IETM/IETP development.
- Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) or XML/DITA-based tools.
- Experience in interacting with field technicians or maintenance teams.
- Knowledge of safety documentation and regulatory compliance.
